THE Grandview Hot Spot for Happy Hour

Date Night recap!

We are lucky enough to get a regular, out of the house, date night every other week. We swap with another couple for childcare and the kids have fun and build relationships with each other! It’s pretty awesome and I highly recommend finding a friend couple and investing in each other’s marriages!

One of our favorite things to do is check out restaurants!

Last week we checked out Bonifacio. Don’t let it’s unassuming exterior fool you – this place is AMAZING! Don’t miss the dessert at the end 😍

Sizzling Sisig

The restaurant opened for dinner at 5, and we made a reservation for 5:30. This was largely unneeded due to the time we got there, but I can see making a later reservation being wise!

It was Happy Hour so we started off our meal with two appetizers, Fried Bok Choy and Fried Chicken Skins

Both were amazing. I was concerned about the Fried Bok Choy, but it was pan fried, light, and delicious. The Fried Chicken Skins were like boneless chicken wings – with the skin on. I am still thinking about these!

The way to eat these is with this marinated chili vinegar. It’s on every table and they bring a dish with a bird chili and diced onions to put it in. Don’t discount that pickle salad!

It was the perfect combination of salt+acid+fat+sweet.

For Drinks I started with the Ooh Bae! and Jeremy went with the Pineapple Gin Martini

The Oooh Bae! is a wild drink. El Jimador Tequila, Fruitlab Orange Liqueur, Crème de Violette, ube jam, kalamansi syrup, lime juice, ube-citrus foam.

It was fun, and I’m glad I ordered it – but wouldn’t again. While it tasted amazing, the smell coming from the ube foam (which is a purple yam) was strange. Not necessarily off-putting, just not something I wanted to drink. Again, the taste was great so maybe this is just my problem. This drink (along with every drink we ordered) was $5 during happy hour so its a low risk try for yourself!

The Pineapple Gin Mojito was VERY good. Jeremy ordered 2 🙂

After I finished the Ooh Bae! I ordered the Lychee Martini which was also on Happy Hour. This. Is. The. Drink. It was refreshing and beautiful.

After we finished with our appies our entrees came… OMG Look at the sizzle on this sisig!

Sisig is grilled pork chopped and sauteed with garlic, onion, ginger, bell pepper, finished with lime juice and chili pepper. Served on a sizzling cast iron skillet with a fried egg (a vegetarian option is available with tofu and mushroom).

I wish our egg would have been softer – I am coming back to order this again and will mention that. It was so fatty and delicious and perfectly cut by the pickle slaw (which came with the next dish, I would ask for a side of it if your dish doesn’t come with it!) and vinegar dipping sauce and lime. AMAZING.

We also ordered the Inasal. It was really hard choosing and ended up ordering more food than we needed. This dish is Grilled chicken quarters marinated in lemongrass, lemon, garlic, and annatto and is served with pickle slaw and rice. Look at the char!


And then… there is this dessert. The Ube Ice Cream Sandwhich. Yes. Those are Fruity Pebbles 😍 And yes, it tastes as good as it looks!
